Rich Products Corporation is expanding its January 5, 2012 recall of Vanilla Soaked Sponge Cake to include a new product. The cakes may contain small plastic fragments that are contaminating the product.
The product details are:
- 8″ Vanilla Flavored Pre-Soaked Sponge Cake Artificially Flavored
- Product Code 62938
- UPC number 00049800629387
- Product produced by Rich’s in Ocoyoacac, Mexico and imported into the U.S.
- Product produced after July 10, 2011 is part of the recall.
This cake is not packaged for retail distribution, but is sold to in-store bakeries. Rich’s notified all of its customers and distributors directly. The problem was caused by a change in the resin the packaging manufacturer used.
