In Canada, Spinach Recalled for Possible Salmonella

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Ippolito Fruit and Produce Ltd. are recalling certain brands of spinach because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. There have been no reports of illness associated with the consumption of these products.

The recalled products are Frisco’s spinach, in 284 gram packages with lot code/best before of 2 D66258/2013 SE 30 and UPC number 0 33383 65201 6. Also recalled are Frisco’s spinach in 170 gram packages, with lot code/best before of 2 D66258 and UPC number 0 33383 45041 4. Queen Victoria brand spinach in 227 gram packages is recalled, with lot code/best before of 2 D66258/2013 SE 30 and UPC number 0 60556 00227 9. Finally, Metro brand spinach in 171 gram packages is recalled, with lot code/best before of 2 D66258/2013 SE 30 and UPC number 0 59749 89955 0.

The products were distributed in Ontario and Quebec, and may have been distributed to other provinces. If you purchased these products, return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
