Nutri-Vet Recalls Chicken Jerky Products for Possible Salmonella Contamination

Nutri-Vet is recalling chicken jerky pet food products because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. Salmonella can sicken animals that eat these products and human beings who handle them.

Recall SignYou can see the long list of recalled products along with item numbers, description, size, and UPC number at the FDA web site. Photos of the product labels are also available at that site. The recalled products are Nutri-Vet and NutriPet Chicken Jerky treats. While no positive tests have been found on those products, the manufacturer of an ingredient used to make the products informed Nutri-Vet about the presence of Salmonella at the manufacturing facility.

The treats were sold nationwide through online sales and in retail stores from April 2012 through February 2013. Best by dates range from April 20, 2014 to October 3, 2014. The product comes in a clear plastic bag. If you purchased one of these products, do not feed them to your pets. Return to the place of purchase for a refund. For questions, call Nutri-Vet at 1-877-729-8668 Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm MT.
