Savoie’s Cajun Stews Recalled for Undeclared Allergens

Acadian Fine Foods, LLC, of Louisiana is recalling about 17,037 pounds of pork stew and chicken stew because they contain wheat and soy that are not declared on the label. Wheat and soy are two of the major food allergens. There have been no reports of adverse reactions associated with the consumption of these products.

The recalled products are 12-ounce single-serve bowls of “Savoie’s Cajun Singles Louisiana Pork Stew” with the establishment number “Est. 13587” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The stew was made on various dates from May 24, 2012 through March 21, 2013. The product packages have “use by” dates from May 24, 2013 through March 21, 2014.

Also recalled are 12-ounce single-serve bowls of “Savoie’s Cajun Singles Louisiana Chicken Stew” bearing the establishment number “P-13587” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The product was produced on dates from June 6, 2012 through February 25, 2013. The packages have “use by” dates from June 6, 2013 through February 25, 2014.

Both products were distributed for sale in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas.  Wheat and soy are sub ingredients used in the chicken base in the product.
