Fannie May is recalling chocolates boxed in spring-themed packaging because they contain undeclared peanuts. People with peanut allergies should not eat these candies as they run the risk of serious or life-threatening reaction if they do.
The company issued a recall for almost 90 cases of the assorted chocolates in 14.0 oz. rectangular boxes after the problem was discovered during an internal review this week. The recalled gift boxes measure 9 1/2” by 7” in size and contain 24 pieces of assorted chocolates including one caramel/peanut candy. They can be identified by the SKU number 75032, and the UPC number on the label of 0 52745 72804 6 with a lot number of 14058 or 14059.
The boxes are light purple with spring flowers. A white label with a picture of five chocolates, the name “Fannie May,” and the descriptions “Assorted Chocolates,” and “rich dark & milk chocolates & pastels with an assortment of decadent filling” appears on an orange-striped band in the center of the box.
The nutritional label on the back of the box states: “This product has been produced on equipment shared with peanuts, tree nuts, soybeans, milk, eggs and wheat.”
