Organic Eggs Recalled for Salmonella

Sixdog Investments is recalling some of their certified organic eggs because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illness related to the consumption of this product have been reported to date.

Eggs FPBThe Owl Canyon eggs are packed in dozen and half-dozen packages. The cartons will have a packing date of 93, 94, 97, or 98. The expiration dates of the affected products are 051814, 051914, 052214 or 052314. The packages also have a location code of 1 or 3. This information is on a white sticker on the end of each carton.

The company says that all other products with different codes and packing dates are safe to consume. The eggs were sold in Colorado and some may have been distributed to Idaho, Kansas, New Mexico, and Utah through retail outlets.

Food Poisoning Bulletin reminds everyone that serving undercooked or raw eggs is not safe. The only way to make sure the eggs you serve are safe is to cook them to 160 degrees F.

If you purchased any of these eggs, do not eat them. Return them to the place of purchase for a refund.
