Ortega Taco Products Recalled for Undeclared Nuts

B&G Foods has announced that it is voluntarily recalling some Ortega and Las Palmas taco products because they contain peanuts and almonds (tree nuts), two of the major food allergens. A similar recall has been ongoing in Canada for the last two weeks.

Recall SignageOne or more of the spice ingredients purchased from a third party supplier contain the nuts. Anyone with an allergy to peanuts and/or tree nuts could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume these products. There is no word on whether or not any reactions have been reported to date.

You can see the long list of recalled products at the FDA web site, along with package sizes, expiration dates, and UPC numbers. The recalled products include Ortega Taco Sauce, Ortega Soft Taco Dinner Kit, Ortega Taco Seasoning, Ortega Taco Dinner Kit, Las Palmas Taco Seasoning Packet, and Las Palmas Taco Sauce, among others. They were distributed in retail stores and food serve outlets nationwide. The recall does not apply to any other sizes or varieties of Ortega or Las Palmas products that are not included on this list.

B&G Foods has terminated its relationship with the supplier in question. If you purchased any of these products and are allergic to peanuts and/or almonds (tree nuts), return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
