Raw Macadamia Nuts Recalled for Possible Salmonella

Marathon Ventures is recalling raw macadamia nuts because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. The FDA discovered the problem through routine testing. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of these products.

Macadamia NutsThe raw nuts were sold under the Shurfine, Western Family, HyVee, Market Pantry, Pear’s Gourmet, Cash-Wa Distributing, Pegler Sysco, and Mayan Gold brand names. They were sold after March 11, 2014 through grocery, food service, and other retail outlets nationwide. THe recalled products include Macadamia Diced Nuts, Macadamia Nuts, Chopped Macadamia Nuts, and Macadamia Nuts Raw. You can see more information about the recalled products including the UPC numbers, package sizes, and product codes at the FDA web site.

If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Throw them away in a closed container or double bag or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
