Cadia, Meijer, Wild Harvest and Wegmans brands of frozen spinach are being recalled for potential Listeria contamination. Coastal Green Vegetable Company LLC of Oxnard, CA supplied the spinach to Twin City Foods, Inc. of Stanwood, Washington which distributed the product sold under those four brand names. Cadia is the store brand for Tops Markets. Wild Harvest is a Supervalu brand.
Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled products should not eat them as Listeria can cause serious illness and death. Children, seniors, pregnant women and those with weakened immune systems are most at risk. Listeriosis can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
Symptoms of an infection include: high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. These symptoms can take as long as 70 days to develop.
The recalled products are: Cadia Organic Cut Spinach, 16 oz. frozen packages with UPC 15369 01165 and package code: 23424. This product was distributed only in California
Meijer Organics Chopped Spinach, 16 oz. frozen packages with UPC 41250 02362 and package code BEST BY FEB 2017 50415. This product was
distributed to warehouses in MI, OH, and WI.
Wild Harvest Organic Cut Leaf Spinach, 16 oz. frozen packages with UPC 11535 50170 and package code: SELL BY 08.DEC.2016 L084WE. These products were distributed to warehouses in AZ, CA, WA. Products with package code: SELL BY 22.JAN.2017 A225WE were distributed to warehouses in PA and VA. Products with package code: SELL BY 30.JAN.2017 A305WE were distributed to warehouses in DE, ME, PA, and VA. And package codes SELL BY 04.MAR.2017 C045WE were distributed to warehouses in ME and PA.
