Frontier Co-op is voluntarily recalling some of its products made with organic garlic powder that may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. The products were sold under the Frontier and Simply Organic brands, and one sold under the Whole Foods Market brand. No illnesses have been reported to date.
Raw material received by Frontier tested positive for the pathogenic bacteria during an FDA test. These products were sold in all 50 states and in some parts of Canada.
You can see the long list of recalled products at the FDA web site. They include Frontier Powdered Garlic, Fiesta Black Bean Mix, Ranch Dip/Dressing Mix, Powdered Garlic, Organic Mama Garlic, and Pepper Fusion Black Peppercorns with Garlic, among others. Also recalled is Simply Organic Chipotle Black Bean Dip Mix, Fajita Seasoning, Spicy Chili Seasoning, Alfredo Sauce Mix, Ranch Dip Mix, Creamy Dill Dip Mix, and many other products. The Whole Foods Market brand product that is recalled is Organic Muchi Curry Seasoning.
You can also see the affected lot numbers, UPC numbers, and sizes of the recalled products at the FDA web site. On foil bulk packages, the four digit lot code is on the front label. On bottled products, the lot code will be on the bottom of the bottle. On seasoning mixes, the lot code is embossed on the right side of the packet.
If you bought any of these items, do not eat them. Discard in a sealed container or return to the place of purchase for a refund.
