American Gourmet Pistachios Recalled for Salmonella

American Gourmet Pistachio RecallAmerican Gourmet of Vista, CA is recalling American Gourmet Roasted/Salted Pistachios because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. Consumers who have purchase these nuts should not eat them.

American Gourmet was notified of the problem by its pistachio supplier. There have been a number of other pistachio recalls.

Salmonella can cause serious and sometimes fatal illness. Those most at risk are  young children, frail or elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms include fever, diarrhea that can be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.

The recalled products, which were sold at retail stores in San Diego, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties in the state of California, have the following product information.

Roasted and Salted Pistachios sold in 2.5 oz, 4 oz and 7.5 oz sizes with Best By dates 11.5.2015 through 1.13.2017 and UPC Code:157860010815786001351578600123
