Listeria Recall for Sunflower Seeds, Snack Mixes Sold at Sporting Goods Stores

Rucker’s Wholesale and Service Co of Bridgeport, IL has issued a recall for sunflower seeds and snack mixes sold under a variety of bran names at sporting goods stores and other retailers. The recall was triggered by the company’s sunflower seed provider, SunOpta.

Sunflower Kernels, Sweet & Salty Mix, and Cajun Hot Mix were sold at Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, Family Choice, Jay’s Sporting Goods and other stores. Consumers should check product recall information carefully. Anyone who has purchased these products should not eat them at Listeria can cause serious illness and death.

Symptoms of a Listeria infection include high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Among pregnant women, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths.
