Two products: Suya Barbecue Seasoning and Light & Fit Greek Crunch S’Mores Nonfat Yogurt, are being recalled for undeclared peanuts, one of the major food allergens. Anyone who is allergic to peanuts could have a serious reaction if they eat these products.
The first recall is for 3,521 cases of Danone North America’s Light & Fit Greek Crunch Nonfat Yogurt & Toppings S’Mores Flavor. The product has the UPC number 36632 03825 and an expiration date of December 30, 2018.
The product is sold in single 5-ounce cups with a clear plastic topper with mix-in ingredients. This expiration date is the only one affected by this recall. Some of the products include the wrong topper. The product was sold in these states: Connecticut, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Wisconsin. This recall notice did not state whether any allergic reactions have been reported.
The second recall is for Suya Barbecue Seasoning from Accra Super Market. It was sold from the Accra Super Market in Worcester, Massachusetts, and Adum Africa Market in New York. The product combines in a 0.53 pound clear plastic package marked with lot # EK 08 17 on the side. The expiration date is 08/31/2020 and the UPC number is 6033000120298. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall.
Testing by the State of New York Department of Agriculture and Markets found undeclared peanuts in the product. Distribution of this product is suspended until the company is sure the problem is corrected.
If you purchased either of these products and are allergic to peanuts, don’t eat them. Throw them away or return them to the store where you bought them for a refund.
