Two products are being recalled for undeclared nuts. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with either of these recalls, but one customer did have a mild reaction.
The first recall is for Eataly Artichoke spread, for undeclared walnuts, or tree nuts. Anyone who is allergic to walnuts could have a serious reaction if they consume this product.
Eataly Artichoke Spread was distributed in New York City. It was sold at Eataly Flatiron, located at 200 5th Avenue in New York. The product was packaged in a plastic container with a front and back label. The front label is printed with “Eataly artichoke spread” nt wt. 7 oz. 200 g, UPC: 612067. The back label has the ingredient list and the expiration date of 05.12.
A customer discovered the walnuts. He had a light allergic reaction to the problem. The customer would not fill out the incident form.
The second recall is for Happy Harvest Canned Spinach, for undeclared peanuts, one of the major food allergens. McCall Farms is recalling the product in cooperation with ALDI. ALDI Is the only retailer that carries this product.
The canned spinach is packed in 13.5 ounce cans with lot code A23IX. The best by age is January 2021, and the UPC number is 041498131289. It was sold in Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. The product was also sold to ALDI customers in the Atlanta and Chicago areas through Instacart, a grocery delivery service. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported.
If you bought any of these products, and can’t eat the allergen, don’t eat them. Throw them away, or take them back to the store where you purchased them for a refund.
