Two recalls have been announced for undeclared allergens; for Rice Cake Soup in the United States and Te Chang Tofu in Canada. No illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported to date in either case.
The first is Otwtogi America, recalling Rice Cake Soup because it may contain undeclared milk. Anyone who is allergic to milk or who is lactose intolerant may have a serious reaction if they consume this product. The product was distributed nationwide in retail stores.
The recalled Rice Cake Soup is in a 6.40 ounce yellow paper bowl package marked with Item Number 29409101 on the back. The expiration date is June 20, 2018, which is stamped under the case. The milk-containing product was distributed in packaging that did not list milk, caused by a misprint.
The second recall is for Te Chang Food brand tofu products, recalled for undeclared peanut and sesame. This product was sold in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, possibly nationally, Prince Edward Island, and Quebec.
The recalled products include Te Chang Food “Tofu Tranches – saveur de barbecue” in 350 gram packages. All lot codes where peanut and sesame aren’t declared on the label are recalled. The UPC number is 4 710189 810203. Also recalled is Te Chang Food Satay Sauce Bean Curd in 70 gram packages. All codes where peanut and sesame are not declared on the label are recalled. The UPC number on that product is 4 710189 041201.
If you have purchased either of these products and are allergic to the respective allergens, do not eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.
