Two recalls today are for products that contain undeclared peanut and nuts. The products are Kancho Choco Biscuit and Tuscan Kale Pesto.
The Kancho Choco Biscuit is produced by LOTTE Confectionery of Korea, recalled for undeclared peanut. The product is sold in three different packages: Kancho 42 g, Kancho Cup 95 g, and Kancho Multi 168 g. Lab tests conducted by the CFIA revealed small amounts of peanut in the product.
This product was distributed in Canada and in the U.S., most in ethnic retail stores and online stores. The product comes in a 1.48-ounce, plastic wrap package within a paper carton package marked with UPC Code # 8801062 144815 on the side. There is no word on whether or not any allergic reactions have been reported in this recall.
The second product is Tuscan Kale Pesto made by Seggiano USA. The label does not declare cashews, or tree nuts, one of the major food allergens. No incidents or allergic reactions have been reported to date in connection with this issue.
The products were distributed between 1/10/18 and 2/15/18 to retail stores in these states: NY, CT, NJ, MN, VT, NH, MA, PA, OH, VA, MD, WV, KY, DC, FL, MT, ID, WY, UT, CO, KS, NM, HI, AZ, NV, ND, SD, MN, WI, MI, IN, IL, IA, MS, NB. The product is Seggiano Tuscan Kale Pesto (with Artichoke & Garlic label). The product is sold in a 7.1 ounce container, with UPC number 812603020381, batch/lot number 326-17/3, and best by date 5/2019.
If you purchased either of these products and are allergic to peanuts and/or cashews, don’t eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.
