Padrino Foods Recalls Tamales For Undeclared Allergen

Padrino Foods of Irving, Texas, is recalling about 1931 pounds of beef tamale products because they may be misbranded. The tamales are labeled as beef and sirloin tamales but contain pork instead. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products.

The fully cooked, not shelf stable tamales were produced on May 8, 2019. The recalled product is 60-ounce packages containing “padrino foods BEEF & SIRLOIN TAMALES Homestyle in corn husks” with lot code 2128903 and a sell-by date of 12-27-19. These tamales have the establishment number “EST. 13136” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The tamales were sold at retail locations in Kansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.

The problem was discovered by a customer who notified the company about the misbranding error. If you bought this product and can’t eat pork, do not eat it. Throw it away or take it back to the place of purchase for a full refund.

FSIS is conducting retail effectiveness checks to ensure that the firm is notifying its customers about this recall. It is also making sure that the product is not available to consumers. If and when it becomes available, the retail distribution list for this product will name the stores where this product may have been sold.
