Trader Joe’s Recalls Four Chicken Products For Possible Listeria

Trader Joe’s is recalling four different products made with precooked chicken from Tip Top Poultry for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. These products with these specific SKU numbers were sold in different states.

The recalled products al have use by date codes 09/28/2019 through 10/08/2019. The products were all sold refrigerated in Trader Joe’s stores.

The recalled items include Chicken Pot Pie with SKU number 93809. It was sold in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Also recalled is White Meat Chicken Salad with SKU number 98091. It was sold in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, and Wisconsin.

Field Fresh Chopped Salad with Chicken is recalled. That product has the SKU number 99050 and was sold in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Finally, Pesto Chicken Wrap with SKU number  92018 is recalled. It was sold in Trader Joe’s stores in Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Ohio, in Germantown Tennessee, and in Texas and Wisconsin.

All of these items have been removed from store shelves, but may still be in consumers’ refrigerators and freezers. Check to see if you have any of these products in your home. If you do, throw them out in a sealed container, or take them back to any Trader Joe’s store for a full refund.

It’s a good idea to then clean out your fridge or freezer with a solution of 1 tablespoon liquid chlorine bleach to 1 gallon of warm water. If you ate any of these products, watch for the symptoms of listeriosis for the next 70 days; they include high fever, stiff neck, severe headache, nausea, muscle aches, and diarrhea. Pregnant women may only feel mildly ill, but listeriosis can cause stillbirth and miscarriage.
