SmithFoods is issuing an allergy alert and voluntarily recalling three flavors of Earth Grown Vegan Non-Dairy Almond Based Frozen Desserts for undeclared cashews, one of the major food allergens. Anyone who is allergic to cashews, or tree nuts, could have a serious reaction if they eat these products. One allergic reactions has been reported to the company to date.
This product was sold at ALDI stores in these states: Alabama, Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Vermont, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. They were also available for purchase through Instacart.
The recalled products include Earth Grown Mocha Fudge Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert sold in 16 ounce/1 pint containers. The UPC number on the product is 4099100002836 and the best by dates are 07-29-2021 and 07-30-2021. Also recalled is Earth Grown Chocolate Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert, also packaged in 16 ounce/1 pint containers. The UPC number for that product is 4099100002850 and the best by dates are 07-26-2021 and 07-27-2021. Finally, Earth Grown Vanilla Non-Dairy Desert in 16 ounce/1 pint containers is recalled, with UPC number 4099100002843 and best by dates 07-27-2021, 07-28-2021, and 07-29-2021.
The recall was issued following a consumer complaint. The company has notified ALDI stores and ALDI will be removing this product from their freezer section.
If you bought any of these products with those best by dates and are allergic to cashews, or tree nuts, don’t eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the store where you purchased them for a full refund.
