Jamaican Tastee Patties Recalled For Lack of Inspection

The USDA states that about 60,457 pounds of meat and poultry patty products that were repackaged, relabeled, and redistributed without the benefit of federal inspection are being recalled. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions associated with this issue.

The baked and dunked, frozen beef and chicken patty items were produced on different dates ranging from September 2018 through July 2020. These are the recalled products:

  • 18 ounce boxes containing 4 pieces of “AUTHENTIC Jamaican STYLE TASTEE Patties JERK CHICKEN TURNOVERS BAKED” with various sell-by dates printed on the label.
  • 18 ounce boxes containing 4 pieces of “AUTHENTIC Jamaican STYLE TASTEE Patties BEEF TURNOVERS SPICY BEEF BAKED” with various sell-by dates represented on the label.
  • 18 ounce boxes containing 4 pieces of “Jamaican STYLE TASTEE Patties TURNOVERS CURRY CHICKEN BAKED” with various sell-by dates represented on the label.
  • 18 ounce boxes containing 4 pieces of “AUTHENTIC Jamaican STYLE TASTEE Patties BEEF TURNOVERS MILD BEEF BAKED” with various sell-by dates printed on the label.
  • 112 ounce (7 pound) cases containing 24 pieces of “Authentic Jamaican STYLE TASTEE Patties BEEF TURNOVERS SPICY BEEF UNBAKED” with various sell-by dates represented on the label.
  • 112 ounce (7 pound) cases containing 24 pieces of “Authentic Jamaican STYLE TASTEE Patties BEEF TURNOVERS MILD BEEF UNBAKED” with various sell-by dates represented on the label.

All of these products have the establishment number “EST. 2390” or “P-2390” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to retail and restaurant locations in Florida.

The problem was uncovered during FSIS surveillance activities. They determined that the firm repackaged the products and used the mark of inspection from another establishment without authorization.

If you bought any of these products, do not eat them. Throw them away or take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund.

If it becomes available, the retail distribution list will be published at the USDA web site. No pictures of product labels were made available.
