Harry & David Issues Recall of Almond and Peanut Butter Products for Salmonella

Harry and David, LLC, is recalling some almond and peanut butter products for possible Salmonella contamination. The products were made with Sunland ingredients that have been linked to a Salmonella Bredeney outbreak in the U.S. The recalled products include 12 ounces jars of Harry & David® Crunchy Almond and Peanut Butter, Harry & David® Creamy Banana Peanut Spread, and Harry & David® Creamy Raspberry Peanut Spread. Sunland Peanut Products Derivative Recalls for Possible Salmonella Begin

Derivative recalls, which are recalls triggered by the recall of ingredients used to make other products, have begun for Sunland products. Sunland recalled many products for possible Salmonella contamination on September 24, 2012, and then expanded that recall on September 25, 2012. Sunland is the manufacturer of Trader Joe's Valencia Peanut Butter, which has been associated with a nationwide Salmonella Bredeney outbreak. That bacteria has sickened 30 people in 19 states. Whole Foods Recalls Peanut Butter Cookies for Possible Salmonella

As part of the Sunland Inc. peanut butter and peanut products recall, Whole Foods is recalling peanut butter cookies for possible Salmonella contamination. Peanut butter was used as an ingredient in the cookies. Sunland products are linked to a Salmonella Bredeney outbreak that has sickened at least 30 people in 19 states. The recalled products are sold in the self-serve pastry case and in packages in store shelves. The cookies in the pastry case are 3 ounce Peanut Butter Cookie and 3 ounce Peanut Butter Chocolate Chunk with PLU number 47963. Minnesota Victim of Peanut Butter Salmonella Outbreak Hospitalized

One of the victims of the Salmonella Bredeney outbreak that has sickened 30 people in 19 states lives in Minnesota. That person, an adult from the Twin Cities metro area, was hospitalized in late July. These illnesses are associated with Trader Joe's Valencia Peanut Butter, which was recalled last week. Since the original recall, Sunland Inc. has been announced as the maker of the peanut butter. Many of that company's products have been recalled; the recall was expanded yesterday to include other types of nut butters and whole peanuts. Chattanooga Bakery, maker of MoonPie® and LookOut!™ branded snacks, is recalling Peanut Butter Crunch products because they were made with products made by Sunland Inc. Sunland products have been recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. That company makes the Trader Joe's Valencia Peanut Butter that is associated with a nationwide Salmonella Bredeney outbreak that has sickened 30 people in 19 states. Sunland Expands Recall of Peanut Products for Salmonella

Sunland Inc. has just updated and expanded its recall of peanut products for possible Salmonella contamination. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment sent us the update information. The recalled products were distributed nationally to many large supermarket chains and were available on the internet. This recall applies to all products with best if used by dates between May 1, 2013 and September 24, 2013. You can see the original list of recalled products at the FDA site. The updated products include Sunland Almond, Peanut and Cashew Butter, Peanut Butter Cups, Harry & David Creamy Peanut Spreads and Peanut butter, Sunland Peanuts, Tahini, and Mixed Nut Butters. Salmonella Bredeney Outbreak Associated with Sunland, Trader Joe’s Peanut Butter Grows

The CDC has just updated its investigation into the Salmonella Bredeney outbreak that is associated with Trader Joe's Valencia Creamy Salted Peanut Butter with Sea Salt. A collaborative investigation indicate that product is a likely source of the outbreak. So far, 30 people are ill in 19 states. One person in Nevada has been added to the case count. Salmonella lawyer Fred Pritzker has been contacted by potential victims of this outbreak and has launched an independent investigation. Sunland Recalls Peanut and Almond Butter for Possible Salmonella

Sunland Inc. is recalling Almond Butter and Peanut Butter products because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. The Trader Joe's recall of its Valencia peanut butter and association with a Salmonella Bredeney outbreak that has sickened 29 people in 18 states may be related to this recall, since Sunland makes that brand of peanut butter. This recall does mention the states with ill persons: Arizona, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. Updated September 25, 2012 There are now 30 confirmed cases of Salmonella poisoning linked to Trader Joe's peanut butter in 19 states, and 4 of them were hospitalized, including one person in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. Attorney Fred Pritzker, who represents Salmonella victims nationwide, has been contacted by potential victims of this outbreak.
