Fisher Walnuts Recalled for Salmonella

Fisher brand chopped walnuts are being recalled for Salmonella. Consumers who have purchased this product should not eat it as Salmonella can cause serious illness or death. At the time of the recall, there had been no reports of illness. The recalled product was packaged in 10-ounce plastic bags. The JBSS item code is P03004 , the UPC number is 070690 02365 8, and best by dates 03/23/16  and 03/23/16. Symptoms of Salmonella poisoning include fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.  Those most at risk are young children, frail or elderly people and others with weakened immune systems.   … [Read more...]

Aurora Expands Salmonella Walnut, Trail Mix Recall to Include More Private Labels

Aurora Products Inc. of Orange, CT  is expanding its nationwide recall of certain lots of walnuts and trail mix to include more private labels. At the time of the recall, no illnesses had been reported, but consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them as Salmonella can cause serious illness. Symptoms of a Salmonella infection include fever, diarrhea that may be bloody nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In some cases, the infection can travel to the bloodstream  producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis and arthritis.
