Wildwood Seed & Specialties of Oregon is recalling their Sleek and Sassy brand bird and small animal foods that contain in-shell peanuts. The peanuts were manufactured by Sunland Inc. and may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. The FDA found Salmonella at the nut processing plant, and Sunland products are linked to a Salmonella Bredeney outbreak that has sickened 38 people.

Some of the recalled products include Garden Parrot, Garden Guinea Pig, Small Animal, Fruit Veggie Nut Treat, and Garden Macaw. The products all have manufacturing codes of 01148 through 01241.
Pets with Salmonella food poisoning infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea, which may be bloody, fever, and vomiting. Humans can contract a Salmonella infection by handling these products or by contact with infected pets. If you or your pet are exhibiting illness and you have purchased these products, see your doctor and take the animal to the veterinarian.
