Cedar Creek Bacon Recalled for Misbranding

Abe’s Finest Meats of Florida is recalling 80,050 pounds of hickory smoked sliced bacon for misbranding. The product ingredient sodium nitrite is not declared on the product label. People can be allergic to this ingredient, with reactions of difficulty breathing, rapid heartbeat, dizziness, and nausea. No reports of adverse reactions have been received to date.

The recalled product is 10 pound bulk frozen packages of “Cedar Creek Hickory Smoked Sliced Bacon”. They have the establishment number “EST. 18747” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to distributors in Florida and Georgia. The products were produced on various dates between July 23, 2014 and December 11, 2014.

If you purchased this product and are allergic to nitrites, do not eat it. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund. The problem was discovered by FSIS personnel during a label review.
