In Canada, Bacon Recalled for Possible Clostridium botulinum

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is recalling bacon because it may be contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, a dangerous bacterium. The packaging may permit the growth of the bacteria, which can cause paralysis and death. No illnesses have been reported associated with the consumption of this product.

Bacon Brad SmoliakThe recalled product is Kitchen by Brad Smoliak bacon, sold in 125 gram or 125 ml packages. The UPC number isĀ 6 27843 01328 0, and the codes on the product are Best Before 14 MA 14 and 14 JL 14. The bacon was sold in Alberta.

Check to see if you have this product in your home. Recalled product should be thrown out in a sealed container. Food contaminated with Clostridium botulinum will not look, smell, or taste spoiled but will make you sick. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dizziness, blurred or double vision, dry mouth, respiratory failure, and paralysis.
