In Canada, Recall of Soft Candy for Undeclared Allergens Updated

In Canada, the recall of Al-Karawan soft candies for undeclared egg and wheat has been updated to include more products. Anyone with an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg and/or wheat could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they eat these products. No illnesses or reactions have been reported to date. They were sold at the retail level in Ontario.

The newly recalled products include Al Karawan Mann Wassalwa Soft Candy in 400 gram packages. The UPC number is 6 253501 388939, and all codes where egg and wheat are not declared on the label are recalled. It was sold at Odeco Trading Company. Also recalled is Al Karawan Manna Walsalwa Soft Candy in 652 gram packages. The UPC number is 6 253501 380537 and all codes where wheat and egg are not declared on the label are recalled. It was sold at Odeco Trading Inc.

Finally, Al-Karawan (Arabic characters only) Manna Wassalwa Soft Candy in 740 gram packages are recalled. The UPC number is 6 253501 380681, and all codes where wheat and egg are not declared on the label are recalled. It was sold at Coffee Master & Odeco Trading Inc.

If you purchased any of these candies and are allergic to wheat and/or egg, do not eat them. Discard or return to the place of purchase for a refund. You can see pictures of the recalled products at the CFIA web site.
