Meat Products Recalled for Undeclared Wheat

European Meat Products of Colorado is recalling about 130,000 pounds of fresh and ready to eat beef and pork products because of undeclared wheat, one of the major food allergens. Anyone with an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they eat these products.

Important Notice RecallThe recalled products are 16 and 100 ounce vacuum pack plastic bags of “Bo Vien, Huong Duyen – Cooked Beef Meat Balls”; 16 ounce vacuum pack plastic bags of “Cha Chien, Huong Duyen – Pork Meat Roll Browned in Soy Bean Oil”, and 16 ounce plastic tubs of “Moc TUOi, Huong Duyen – Fresh Pork Paste.” Also recalled are 16 ounce and 32 ounce vacuum pack plastic bags of “Gio-Lua; Huong Duyen – Pork Meat Roll.” The products have the establishment number “EST. 7725” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were made before January 17, 2014 and shipped to distributors, restaurants, and retail establishments in California, Colorado, and Illinois.

The problem occurred due to a change in ingredients without a corresponding change in the finished label. If you purchased these products and are allergic to wheat, return them to the place of purchase for a refund. No adverse reactions have been reported to date.
