Charlee Bear Recalls Dog Food Bars for Possible Salmonella

Charlee Bear Products is recalling some lots of its Protein Crunch Bar products because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. No animal or human illnesses have been reported related to these products.

The products are Charlee Bear Protein Crunch Bars Chicken Recipe with Carrots in 5.5 ounce packages. The bars with UPC number 8710890000 have lot numbers 19812 and best by date of 7-16-2015; lot number 19912 and best by date of 7-17-2015; lot number 20012 and best by date of 7-18-2015, and lot number 20212 and best by date of 7-20-2015. The Charlee Bear Protein Crunch Bars Chicken Recipe with Sweet Potatoes have UPC number 871089001, lot number 20112 and best by date of 7-19-2015.

You can see the product photos at the FDA site. The bars were distributed nationwide in September and October 2012.

Pets with Salmonella infections may have decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Infected pets who do and do not show signs of illness can be carriers of Salmonella and may infect human beings.
