Four Derivative Recalls Linked to Sunland Whole Peanut Recall

Four companies are recalling peanut products relating to the Sunland recall for possible Salmonella contamination. The derivative recalls will expand now that Sunland has recalled whole roasted and raw peanuts. No illnesses have been reported in relation to these recalled products.

JagRma LLC is recalling NuttZo Original 16 ounce Nut and Seed butter  because it was made with Sunland peanuts. The product was manufactured in October and November 2011 and has “Best By Dates” of 10/7/12 – 12/31/12 stamped on the lid or bottom of the jar. The UPC number is 894697002030, and the product description is NuttZo Original (BLUE Label). It was sold through natural grocery retail stores in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nevada, California, Arizona, Hawaii, and through mail order in all 50 states. LIN-MAR Partners is recalling two types of Longhorn Bars because they were made with potentially contaminated Sunland peanuts. The recalled varieties are Roasted Peanut with Chocolate Energy Bars with UPC number 8-57087-00301-7 and best by date of 11/10/12. The Peanut Butter Trail Mix Protein Bars have a UPC number of 8-57087-00303-1 and a best by date of 11/11/12. They were sold in Texas through Randall’s, Tom Thumb, HEB, University of Texas Coop, and Academy retail stores. They have been on the market for 11 months. Creative Energy Foods is recalling Ridgebar brand nutrition bars because they were made with Sunland Peanuts. The 50 gram Peanut Butter Crunch Ridgebar has a UPC number of 855468003052, and a best by dates of 022413 and 042813. The products were sold only on the internet. Creative Energy Foods is recalling Crunch® thinkThin Nutrition bars because they were made with blanched roasted peanuts supplied by Sunland. You can see the flavor, size, UPC code, and best by dates of the seven flavors of recalled bars at the FDA site. They were sold at retail chain stores nationwide from March 2010 to October 12, 2012.
