The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Veg-Pak Produce Ltd. are warning consumers, distributors, and retailers not to consume, distribute, or sell jalapenos described below because they may be contaminated with Salmonella.

The peppers, a product of the USA, were sold in bulk to these stores in Ontario:

  • Food Basics
  • Ho Long Supermarket
  • Kitchen Table Grocery Stores
  • Longo’s
  • Metro
  • Michael Angelo’s
  • Oak Ridges Food Market
  • Oceans Fresh Food Market

  • P.A.T. Mart
  • Starwind Supermarket
  • Trinity Supermarket

They may have been sold from more retail stores in Ontario. The peppers were in stores between March 8, 2012 and March 28, 2012. If you purchased bulk, unlabeled jalapeno peppers between those dates, check with the store to see if they carried the affected product.

The whole sale packages were sold by Veg-Pak Produce at the Ontario Food Terminal, from March 8 to March 15, 2012.
