Michigan Spartan Stores Recalling Egg Products

Spartan Stores, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, announced a recall of eight deli products containing hard-cooked eggs produced by Michael Foods Inc. of Minnetonka, Minnesota. The recalled egg products were also sold at D&W and Family Fare stores in West Michigan.

The products include:

  • Egg spread
  • Sandwich with egg spread
  • Large container chef salads
  • Small container chef salads
  • Seven layer chef salad
  • Large container no-meat chef salad
  • Small container no-meat chef salad
  • No-meat seven layer chef salads
  • The products have sell-by dates of January 20, 2012 through February 1, 2012

Information about Listeria in Michael Foods eggs has trickled out very slowly. There were no formal recalls for Michael Foods hard-cooked eggs posted on either the FDA or FSIS sites.
