Good Taste Preserved Fruits Recalled For Sulfites

Good Taste brand preserved fruits made in Brooklyn are being recalled due to the presence of undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivity to sulfites may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product. To date, illnesses have not been reported in connection with this product.

good-tasteThe recalled  products are packaged in a 14 oz. (400 gram), plastic bags with the UPC code  3 867320 507698 on the back of the package. The problem was discovered by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors.

Consuming 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Consumers who have purchased the product should not eat it.
