In Canada, Rosemary Recalled for Possible Salmonella

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Nador Inc. are recalling rosemary leaves because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date in association with the consumption of this product.

The recalled product is Selection brand rosemary leaves in 50 gram containers. The code on the product is 14014 and the UPC number isĀ 0 59749 88916 2. The recall was triggered by CFIA test results. The rosemary was sold in Ontario and Quebec at the retail level.

If you purchased this product, do not eat it. Discard in a closed container or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.

Food contaminated with Salmonella bacteria will not look, smell, or taste spoiled. Those most susceptible to a serious infection include the young, the elderly, pregnant women, and those with chronic illnesses and weakened immune systems. The symptoms of a Salmonella infection include headache, fever, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.
