Recalled Pork and Poultry Produced without Inspection

Transatlantic Foods of New York is recalling about 222,000 pounds of pork and poultry products that were not federally inspected, according to the USDA. One of their establishments in New Jersey had not been issued an FSIS Grant of Inspection. That operation was producing product and using labels approved for use by, and bearing the establishment number of, a facility in Pennsylvania. Any food produced without inspection is considered unfit for human consumption. In addition, the company was producing products in undisclosed locations without inspection.

The products include Aux Delices de Bois products and Chestnut Valley products, and include duck fat, uncured bacon, breakfast sausage, bratwurst, chorizo, bacon sausage, kielbasa, Irish Bangers, Italian Sausage, and chicken sausage products in different flavors. The foods were shipped to retail, internet, and wholesale locations nationwide.

The duck fat included in the recall was produced from January 2012 through May 2014 and bears the establishment number “P-39954”. The remaining products were made before October 18, 2013 and bear the establishment numbers “Est. 33806”, “Est. 45100”, “P-33806″ or P-45100” inside the USDA mark of inspection.

No illnesses have been reported associated with the consumption of these products. If you purchased any of these products, do not eat them. Return them to the place of purchase for a refund or discard them.
