Williams Sonoma Pumpkin Seed Pesto Recalled for Botulism Risk

pumpkin-pesto-recallWilliams Sonoma Pumpkin Seed Pesto is being recalled for botulism risk. No illnesses have been reported in association with this recall, but consumers who have purchased the product should not eat it even if it does look or smell spoiled. Because the product may have been improperly processed, it may contain Clostridium botulinum, the bacteria that causes botulism a paralytic illness that is fatal if untreated.

The recalled product has been distributed nationwide since September 2014. It was sold under the Williams-Sonoma label in 8 oz glass jars with the SKU numbers 6404305, 6389043. No other products from this company are affected.

Symptoms from botulism include general weakness, dizziness, double vision and trouble with speaking or swallowing.  People experiencing these problems should seek immediate medical attention.
