GNP has identified the employee whose tampering triggered a recall of 55,000 pounds of chicken, a company spokesperson told the St. Cloud Times today. The FBI is investigating.
On June 18, the Cold Spring, MN-based company issued a recall for 55,608 pounds of chicken products for possible contamination with dirt and sand. Most of the recalled products were sold to institutional clients, but one, Just BARE Whole Chicken with a a use-by/freeze-by date of June 26, was sold at retail stores.
The individual responsible for intentionally contaminating the products has been identified and fired. No charges or arrests have been made.The FBI has joined the investigation.
