In Canada, Fjord Laks Marinated Salmon Recalled for Listeria

fjord-laks-salmon-recall-listeriaA&E Distribution Inc. is recalling Fjord Laks brand Gravlax marinated salmon from the marketplace for possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Consumers who have purchased the recalled product should not eat it as Listeria  can cause serious illness and death.

The recalled product labelled, Gravlax – Marinated Salmon (Dill sauce included), was sold throughout Quebec in 165 g sizes with “Best Before” dates up to and including February 14, 2016.

Symptoms of Listeria infection which can take up to 70 days to develop. They include: nausea and diarrhea followed by fever, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and muscle aches.

Young children, seniors, pregnant women and people with compromised immune systems are most at risk for Listeria infections. Among pregnant women, Listeria can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery and illness in newborns.
