Southern Grove Almonds Sold at ALDI Stores Recalled for Undeclared Wheat and Soy

Kanan Enterprises is voluntarily recalling Southern Grove Unsalted Almonds because they contain wheat and soy, two of the major food allergens, that are not listed on the label. Anyone who is allergic to those foods, or who is gluten intolerant, could have a serious reaction if they eat this product. No adverse reactions have been reported in association with this recall.

The recalled product is Southern Grove Almond Unsalted, which is packaged in a 14 ounce stand up pouch bag. The UPC number isĀ  0 41498 24647 1 and the date code is Best By SEP 25 2018 KN. No other products or date codes are affected by this recall. The product was sold at ALDI stores inĀ Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

The problem is that wasabi almonds, which contain wheat and soy, were packaged in a bag of Southern Grove Unsalted Almonds. If you bought this product and are allergic to soy and/or wheat, or are gluten intolerant, do not eat it. Throw it away or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.

The symptoms of a food allergen vary widely. Early, less serious symptoms can include tingling of the mouth, lips, and tongue; itching, hives, or eczema; or nasal congestion. More serious symptoms can include swelling of the face, lips, tongue, and throat or other parts of the body; wheezing or trouble breathing; abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting, and dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting. Anyone experiencing these symptoms should see a doctor.
