Two Meat Products by Ruiz Food and Eddy Packing Recalled for Foreign Materials

Two products containing meat, produced by Ruiz Food Products and Eddy Packing, therefore regulated by the USDA, are being recalled for possible foreign material contamination. No illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

The first recall is for Ruiz Food Products, recalling frozen breakfast burritos that may be contaminated with white, semi-rigid plastic pieces.  These products were produced on March 3, 2018.

The recalled product is 3.38-pound plastic wrapped packages containing 12 Count, 4.5-ounce individually wrapped frozen “EL MONTEREY SIGNATURE BURRITOS, EGG, SAUSAGE, CHEESE & POTATO” with lot code 18062 and 18063, and a best if used date of 3/3/2019 or 3/4/2019. The products have the establishment number “EST. 17523A” on the back of the packaging. They were shipped to retail locations across the country.

The second recall is for Eddy Packing smoked sausages for possible soft plastic pieces. More than 18,000 pounds of sausages are being recalled.

These products were produced on March 14, 2018. The recalled product is 10 pound cases of “CARL’S PORK AND BEEF SMOKED SAUSAGE WITH A STICK” with lot code 8073, case code PS9319 and sell by date of March 14, 2019. The products have the establishment number “EST. 4800” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to food service businesses in Texas.  The problem was discovered after a customer complained about finding soft, green plastic material in the product.

If you have any of these products, do not eat them. Throw them away, or take them back to the store where you bought them for a full refund. FSIS is conducting effectiveness checks to make sure these products are no longer available to consumers.
