Whole Foods Spinach Artichoke Dip Recalled For Undeclared Egg

Winter Gardens Quality Foods is voluntarily recalling one of its products: Whole Foods Spinach Artichoke Dip, because it contains egg, one of the major food allergens, that is not declared on the label. Anyone who is sensitive to or allergic to egg could have a serious allergic reaction if they eat this product. No illnesses have been reported to the company to date.

The Whole Foods Spinach Artichoke Dip was sold at Whole Foods Market stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, and Washington D.C. on or after July 14, 2020. The product was stocked in the refrigerated aisles and packaged in a 12 ounce plastic tub. The recalled product has the UPC number 074204804467 printed on the label. The lot code printed on the lid is 248, and the use by date is 07/26/20.

The recall was started after and internal review of records found the incorrect label. Winter Gardens is cooperating with regulatory authorities to make sure that all recalled product is being returned.

If you purchased this product and are allergic to egg, don’t eat it. Throw it away or take it back to the store where you bought it for a full refund.

Symptoms of a food allergy can range from mild to severe. People can develop food allergies at any time in life with little or no warning. The earliest symptoms are usually tingling of the mouth, lips, and tongue. Some people may experience hives and itching, or nausea and diarrhea. More serious symptoms that require medical care include swelling of the throat and difficulty breathing.
