Farm Rich Product Recall for E. coli O121 Expands Again

The list of retailers carrying the recalled Farm Rich products for E. coli O121 has expanded again. The foods are linked to a 15-state outbreak of E. coli O121 that has sickened at least 24 people. At least one of the patients has developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS), a complication that can lead to kidney failure. The list of stores, which includes the name, street address, city, and state, is 21 pages long. You can see the complete list at the USDA web site. Please look at it carefully. Walmart Recalls Farm Rich Pizza Slices For E.coli

Walmart is recalling Farm Rich Pizza Slices from its stores nationwide because they may be contaminated with E.coli. The frozen pepperoni pizza slices were sold in 7.2 oz cartons and 22 oz cartons with "EST. 27232" or "P-27233" stamped inside the USDA mark of inspection. The “best by” dates for both sizes under recall is May 15 or May 16, 2014. The products under recall contain cheese, pepperoni, sauce and dough, according to information from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), which, along with Farm Rich, has posted the recall on its website. Michigan Stores Sold Recalled Farm Rich Products Linked to E. coli O121 Outbreak

Many stores in Michigan sold the recalled Farm Rich products that are linked to a 15 state E. coli O121 outbreak. Not coincidentally, Michigan and neighboring states Ohio and Indiana have seven of the 24 cases in the lab confirmed outbreak. That bacteria is one of six non-O157 Shiga toxin-producing E. coli that the USDA categorizes as an adulterant in certain raw beef products. Shiga toxin can cause complications such as hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). The stores in Michigan that carried the products including the following.  Family Fare on Eaton in Albion; Lake Michigan Drive in Allendale; Capital N.E. in Battle Creek; North Clare Avenue in Harrison; W.
