Shirk’s Meat Products Recalled for Listeria
Shirk’s Meat of Dundee, NY establishment, is recalling approximately 2,478 pounds of pork and beef products that may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) discovered the problem during routine testing. Ten days ago, Sunburst Foods, a Goldsboro NC-based maker of sandwiches and snack items sold in vending machines and convenience stores issued a recall for everything it has ever made for possible Listeria contamination. Now the company, which had not received any reports of illness at the time of the recall, has halted all production of sandwiches. The items, sold in vending machines and convenience stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia were sold under a variety of brand names including: River Edge Farms, CFW, Southern Zest, CJ’s Vending, Binford Street Deli, Middle Georgia Vendors, Roanoke Foods, Select Foods, and Jesse Jones (Double Chili Dogs). Costco Uses Shopper Cards to Notify Members of Listeria Recall
Costco is using member card information to notify its customers of the recall for Parkers Farm products that may be contaminated with Listeria. Costco emailed members who purchased the recalled products warning them of the potential danger. The peanut butter and cheese products were sold under the brand names Parkers Farm, Parkers, Happy Farms, Central Markets, Hy-Top, Amish Classic, Say Cheez, Win Schuler, and Bucky Badger.
