Premium Nutritional Products is recalling ZuPreem Fruitblend™ with Natural Fruit Flavors maintenance formula bird foods for medium/large birds and for large birds. The product has exceedingly high calcium levels, low phosphorus, and high vitamin D concentration that could pose a significant health risk to birds.
Consumption of food from these lots may make birds sick and can be fatal. Symptoms include decreased activity level or appetite, increase in water consumption or watery droppings. The two recalled lots are 598405052 and 598405072. You can see the SKU numbers, product descriptions, UPC numbers, lot codes, and “Use By” dates at the FDA site. You can also see all of the product labels at that site.
The products were shipped between 5/21/12 and 8/23/12 nationwide to pet retailers, veterinary clinics, online pet supply merchants, breeders and zoological parks.
