Perrigo Recalls Acetaminophen Infant Suspension Liquid

Perrigo is recalling 18 batches of its acetaminophen infant suspension liquid because a small number of packages may have an oral dosing syringe without dose markings. This could result in inaccurate dosing, and some infants could get a dose that is too high.

The recalled product is 160 mg/5 mL dose, sold in 2 ounce and 4 ounce bottles with syringes in a box under the store brand products of: Babies R Us, Care One, Equaline, Equate, Harmon Face Values, Health Mart, Healthy Accents, HEB, Kroger, Leader Drug, Meijer, Publix, Rite Aid, Topcare, Up & Up, and Walgreens. You can see the recalled product names and batch numbers at the FDA web site. You can also see pictures of product labels at the FDA web site. The correct syringe has a white or yellow plunger with specific dose markings for 1.25 mL, 2.5 mL, 3.75 mL, and 5 mL.

This over the counter product is indicated for relief of fever and minor aches and pains and can be used in children, infants, and adults. The products are sold nationwide through retail stores. If the oral dosing device has markings, no action is required. But if it doesn’t have the dose markings, do not use it. Call Perrigo’s Consumer Affairs Department at 1-800-719-9260 for instructions. Any adverse events can be reported to FDA’s MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting Program.
