Sprouts Farmers Market Recalls Peppercorns for Possible Salmonella

Sprouts Farmers Market is recalling peppercorns sold under the Sprouts name and Frontier and Simply Organic brand names because they may be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with the consumption of these products.

Sprouts Peppercorns Salmonella RecallThe first recalled product is Sprouts Farmers Market Organic Black Peppercorns in 2.12 ounce containers. The UPC number isĀ 8-74875-00425-4 and the lot code is 3287. The expiration date is October 2016. They were distributed to Sprouts Farmers Market stores inĀ Arizona, California, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah.

The recall was initiated after a sample taken during routine testing by the FDA found the presence of the pathogenic bacteria. As an extra precautionary measure, the company is also recalling these items from grocery shelves and bulk departments: Frontier Organic Whole Black Peppercorns in 16 ounce packages, with UPC number 0-89836-02603-3 and lot code 3256. Also recalled is Sprouts Farmers Market Organic Black Peppercorns in 2.12 ounce containers, with UPC number 8-74875-00425-4 and lot code 3246. Finally, Simply Organic Whole Black Peppercorns in 2.65 ounce containers are recalled. The UPC number is 0-89836-18524-2, and lot codes are 3221 and 3262.
