Shamrock Foods Beef and Chicken Recalled

The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) says Shamrock Foods of Phoenix, Arizona is recalling 7,500 pounds of marinated beef and chicken because of improper labeling.

Recall SignThe beef contains soybeans, sulfites, and wheat, and the chicken contains milk, wheat, and sulfites. These ingredients are known allergens, which were not declared on the label. The FSIS discovered the problem during a routine inspection.

Product details:

  • Products were sold in Arizona
  • Produced from December 1, 2011 through December 29, 2011
  • Cases containing two 10-pound packages labeled as “Chicken, breast double lobe marinated randoms”
  • The chicken has an identification number of 2844671
  • Cases containing two 10-pound packages labeled as “Beef chuck, shoulder clod 1/2″ slice marinated USDA prime”
  • The beef has an identification number of 3096311

The products were purchased by food service organizations, not retailers, and were sold to restaurants and institutions in Arizona.

There have been no reported illness connected with the consumption of these products. Shamrock Foods says they have addressed and corrected the labeling issue.
