Huge Number of Peanut Butter Ice Cream Desserts Recalls for Possible Salmonella

Six companies are recalling various types of peanut butter ice cream because they were made with Sunland Inc. products that have been recalled for possible Salmonella contamination. Sunland made Trader Joe’s Valencia peanut butter that has been linked to a Salmonella Bredeney outbreak in the United States.

Bliss Unlimited is recalling Luna & Larry’s Coconut Bliss Chocolate Peanut Butter Non-Dairy Frozen Dessert with code dates Nov 11 2012 through Oct 24 2013. The product was distributed to retail stores nationwide between November 2010 and December 2011. It is packaged in one pint (473 ml) paperboard containers with UPC code 8 96767 00121 9 on the back of the container. It also has a stamp with 41-61  on the bottom. Belfonte Ice Cream and Dairy is recalling peanut butter containing ice cream because it contains Sunland ingredients. The products are Belfonte 56 ounce Rectangular Carton of Home Run Sundae, with UPC number 83057-91023. The best if used by dates are 04/08/2011, 05/07/2011, 06/03/2011, 06/08/2012, 03/13/2014, 04/26/2014, 06/21/2014, and 07/27/2014. Also recalled is Belfonte 56 ounce Rounded Square Container of Mama’s Choice Reverse Peanut Butter Pie with UPC number 83057-17033 and best if used by dates of 07/15/2011, 10/02/2011, 12/02/2011, 02/09/2012, 04/06/2012, and 06/02/2012. The ice cream was sold between April 2010 and October 2012 in Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. No illnesses have been reported related to these products. Clemmy’s is recalling Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip ice cream in pint size because it was made with Sunland products. The product was distributed nationwide in grocery stores starting in March 2011.  The UPC number is 8 94509 00231 9 and code date range of 11038-12215. The first production date corresponds to 02/07/2011 and the most recent production date corresponds to 08/02/2012. The product has a two year best by requirement, so the expiration dates are 2/13 through 8/14. There are no illnesses associated with this recall. Smith Dairy is recalling ice creams because they contain Sunland ingredients. This recall was initiated by Pecan Deluxe, the company that makes the peanut butter candy pieces used in the products. No illnesses are linked to this recall. The products are SMITH’S Peanut Butter Crunch Ice Cream in 1.75 quart and half gallon containers, with UPC number 70424 08139 and lots 060-10 through 155-12. Also recalled are Acme Peanut Butter Twist Ice Cream in half gallon containers, with UPC number 29313 46110 and lots 03/01/10 through 06/03/12. Ruggles Peanut Butter Crunch Ice Cream in 3 gallon containers with UPC number 70424 08607 and lots 060-10 through 155-12 are also recalled. Finally, Ruggles Peanut Butter Brownie Crunch in 3 gallon containers with UPC number 70424 08639 and lots 060-10 athrough 155-12 are recalled. BGC Manufacturing is recalling Goldenbrook Farms Peanut Butter Bash Ice Cream. The product was distributed to Brookshire Grocery retail stores throughout Texas, Louisiana, and Southern Arkansas between May 2010 and September 2012. It is packaged in 1/2 gallon cartons, with UPC code 0009282530538. There have been no illnesses linked to this product. Rich Products is recalling TCBY®  Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt Pie and Jon Donaire®  Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream Cake because they were made with Sunland products. No illnesses have been reported relating to this recall. The products are Jon Donaire®  Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream Cake with UPC number 049800626836. It was made from March 31, 2010 through July 6, 2012. It was sold by the case to in-store bakeries nationwide. The TCBY®  Peanut Buttery Fudge Deep Dish Frozen Yogurt Pie does not have a UPC code. It is sold exclusively to TCBY® stores. You can see product labels at the FDA site. The product was produced from March 31, 2010 to July 31, 2012.
