One Person in Canada Sickened in Pet Food Outbreak

The Public Health Agency of Canada has announced that one person in that country has been sickened with a Salmonella infection linked to the recalled dry dog and cat foods manufactured at the Diamond Pet Foods plant in South Carolina. Fourteen people in nine states in the United States are sick.

Woman's Torso Food PoisoningThe ill person is from Quebec, Canada. Several brands of pet food manufactured at that specific plant have been recalled in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico.

Symptoms of Salmonella infection include fever, headache, stomach and abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting. It’s important to always wash your hands after handling pet food, washing pet food bowls, and cleaning up after your pet.
