River Ranch Salad Recall for Possible Listeria Expanded Again

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is expanding its River Ranch salad recall. The original recall was for product distributed in the United States. Then the recall was expanded to include products shipped to Canada and extended the recalled “Best By” dates.

The recall now includes several more products, including Classic Garden, Romaine Garden Blend, and Three-Color Cole Slaw Mix.

The packages all have Best Before dates between 12MAY 2012 – 29MAY 2012. The packages sold to foodservice establishments have Julian dates between 118 – 125. The products were distributed throughout Canada.

In addition, the Canadian recall now includes Compliments Brand and Sensation brand salads and in-store prepared foods. For a complete list of brands, product names, package sizes, and UPC numbers, please visit the CFIA site. You can see all of the product photos at the CFIA site.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause symptoms including headache, high fever, nausea, and neck stiffness. Those in high risk groups, including the very young, the elderly, pregnant women, and those with compromised immune systems may have serious complications from this bacteria.
