El Toro Pork Recalled for Undeclared Peanut

Morrison Meat Packers of Miami is recalling approximately 70,077 pounds of cooked pork products because they contain peanut, a known allergen which is not declared on the product label. Consumers who have purchased these products should not eat them as they risk serious health problems if they do.

Recall SignageThe recalled pork products were produced on Dec. 22, 2014, through Jan. 27, 2015 and packed in packages of various weights. They were marked EL TORO COOKED PORK AND WATER PRODUCT and “VIDA LATINA COOKED PORK AND WATER PRODUCT.”

They have the establishment number “EST. 17882” inside the USDA mark of inspection and “Use By” dates ranging from Feb. 27, 2015, to Mar. 29, 2015 and lot numbers 356, 363, 002, 008, 015, 022, or 027.

The problem is liked to cumin from a spice supplier that  may have been contaminated with peanut allergens. There had been no reports of illness at the time of the recall.
